Imperative


We use imperatives to tell somebody to do (or not to do) something. 

For example: Open the door. Turn right. Don't worry. Don't stop. Be quiet, please. Please sit down.

 

AFFIRMATIVE FORM

Verb (infinitive). 

For example: Come here, please.

NEGATIVE FORM

Don't + verb (infinitive)

For example: Don't touch it!

BE POLITE

We add "please" to be polite.

E.g.: Close the door, please.

BE+ADJECTIVE

We can use be + adjective in imperatives.

E.g. Be quiet, Be careful.


    LET'S
    We can also use "Let's", as a kind of imperative.
